It took "Woman Thou Art Loosed" two months to get to Massachusetts....and I wont even talk about how me and my sister had to go see "Pinero" in a second-run theatre in Newton SIX MONTHS after it came out...but "Soul Plane," on the other hand, was in all the theatres immediately upon its National release. Face it, in your beloved hometown racism trumps all, even making money. You can wait till next years Roxbury film festival or you can hop a FungWah and go see it in another state...make sure you take a fire extinguisher, though LOL
well i'd say it's more of a lower-budget film without major studio backing as opposed to racism being the major factor at play here. it's not in H-town or the D either.
Maybe so. But how many random independent Good Will Hunting films written by Liam and Kevin about absolutely nothing get space in major theatres and historic films about important issues dont even make it into the state. Somebody is making these choices. Welcome Back Kotter's whole first season never aired in Boston. There are some episodes of SNL last year that were not carried in Boston (most notibly the episode starring Al Sharpton)...not to mention all the music we are missing because it didnt make some playlist and the Black-owned radio station shuts off at sundown (what's with that anyway? Black music has a curfew?)...and if this isnt your hometown, why you be reppin it so hard, and defending it with your elbows, B?
because you take the good with the bad and i would not live here if I found it too be overtly more fuqed up than another city. i'm not racism is non-existent, i just don't believe its the answer to every question of imbalance. all god's danger's ain't a white man. nahmean.
